VERUSCHKA ZARATE
"STORYBOOK WUNDERLAND"
Shipshewana, Indiana
Tuesday March 9 - Saturday March 13

This design is the third quilt in my new landscape series, *Pieced & Placed: A Passport to Joy*, where I combine the architectural precision of Foundation Paper Piecing with the organic beauty of appliqué to celebrate remarkable places around the world and the wonderful quilting community I am honored to share them with.

Inspired by Bavaria’s picturesque landscapes, *Storybook Wunderland Quilt” features the majestic Alps, the winding Isar River, traditional German folk art, the Black Forest, Edelweiss, Cornflowers, Bluebells, and, of course, the breathtaking Neuschwanstein Castle.

As a lifelong Disney fan, this part feels especially magical. Neuschwanstein is believed to have inspired Walt Disney’s iconic castle and is featured in SOARIN’ at Disney California Adventure.

This will be taught for the first time in the United States at
QAS Shipshewana.

This kit will be unlike any offered before. While solids will provide the foundation of the design, I will also be incorporating a carefully curated mix of batiks, grunge fabrics, and textured solids to bring greater depth and realism to the landscape. I am also exploring a more natural, true-to-life color palette than I typically use, and I am excited to share this new creative direction with you. All levels encouraged to attend.
"My classes are designed to be technique-rich, engaging, and accessible, giving students practical skills they can carry into their own creative work long after the workshop ends."
