The Process

STACEY COFFEE

FROM PHOTO... TO FABULOUS
including... EYECONIC: A Masterclass in Eye Creation
Shipshewana, Indiana
Tuesday March 9 - Saturday March 13

Transform a favorite photograph into a stunning piece of textile art using raw-edge appliqué and fabric collage.

Stacey will guide you through every stage of the creative process—from selecting a great image, choosing the perfect fabrics that brings your subject to life, and how to design your own unique pattern. Along the way, you'll discover how to create backgrounds that enhance your composition and use free-motion quilting to add depth, texture, and dimension.

One of the highlights of this workshop is learning how to create realistic, expressive eyes using Dupioni silk and mixed media. During focused, hands-on breakout sessions, you'll work with specially curated kits as Stacey shares the techniques she's refined over years of creating fabric portraits.

Throughout the workshop, Stacey will introduce you to the broader world of collage and textile art through her presentation:

"Under the Influence: Artists I Admire and Lessons I've Learned"

Students will purchase a $60 kit for specialty supplies, payable to Stacey  in class. (Specific details provided upon registration).

"There's no place I'd rather be than in the classroom... sharing what I love"

Stacey has had an emotional attachment to fabric for as long as she can remember, but never fell in love with traditional quilting. She absolutely adores fabric, but once enough quilt blocks are finished to reveal the final design, she's ready for the next creative adventure.

Textile collage was the prefect fit. Every piece continues to evolve as fabrics are layers and stitched, making each work truly one-of-a-kind. â€‹

An award-winning textile artist who teaches workshops nationwide, Stacey enjoys breaking down the process into simple, approachable steps so students of all levels can relax, have fun, and surprise themselves with what they can create. â€‹

This will be her forth year teaching with QAS, and assisting Carmen behind the scenes.

Her dog Kevin is a constant companion in her Canton, Ohio studio.

He's a whole lot of Min-Pin, 3% rat dog, 1% wolf... and completely convinced he's famous.
