Arrival:

Overnight guests should proceed directly to one of two Shepler's Ferry locations: 

556 E. Central Avenue Mackinaw City, MI 49701 or 601 N State St, St Ignace, MI 49781.

Plan to arrive at the dock one hour before your desired departure.​

Getting Your Ticket:

Visit the ticket booth and pick up your tickets. 

Shepler’s Ferry Ticket to and from the island. (Be sure to keep it for your return trip)

Horse-drawn Carriage Taxi Ticket... One (1) ticket to Mission Point Resort.

Luggage:

Drive to the dock's designated unloading zone. Tell the porters you're staying at

Mission Point and  your luggage will be tagged and transferred directly to the hotel.

Give your luggage tags to the hotel desk and your bags will be placed in your room.

Parking Your Vehicle:

Once arriving at the dock, you will be guided through the unloading process and given

instructions on where to park. A free shuttle will take you to the dock.

Boarding the Ferry: 

Boarding usually begins 30 minutes before departure. Choose between the

open-air top deck for views or the enclosed lower level

​​

By Plane:​

Pellston Regional Airport ((PLN) is the closest airport to Mackinac Island.

Shuttle Service is available to and from Shepler’s Ferry dock. (details above)

Check the schedule for the first and last ferry of the day. ​

Mackinac Island Carriage Tours:

Provides transportation from the ferry dock to Mission Point Resort on a set schedule for

Mission Point guests arriving on the island. 

Exit the boat, follow the walking paths off the ferry past the luggage sorting area straight

toward main street. 

The horse-drawn taxi will be waiting. If you don't see them, call: 906-847-3323.

Departure:

Request luggage pickup at least 2 hours before your intended ferry departure to ensure

your bags make it to the dock on time.

Verify what time the Horse-drawn Taxi Shuttle will leave for the dock.

*You will receive your return taxi ticket in class the last day of your workshop.

 

​​Dial 3032 from your guest room to reach a bellman. They'll pick up and tag your luggage

for your specific mainland destination. You will receive a claim ticket for each bag. 

Head to the front desk in the Main Lodge to officially check out of your room.

Make sure you do not accidentally pack your return ferry ticket. 

Get to the Shepler's Dock about 15–20 minutes before your desired boat leaves.

Once the ferry arrives at the mainland dock, walk off and follow the signs to the secure

luggage claim area.

Once you've secured your bags, a shuttle will take you to the parking lot to pick up your car.
