5-Day Workshop
Tuesday May 12 - Saturday May 16

Turn a cherished photograph into a stunning textile collage in this immersive, totally fun, hands-on workshop.

Participants will explore every stage of the creative process from start to finish. You'll learn to think like an artist and never look at fabric in quite the same way again.

Stacey will introduce you to the broader world of collage and textile art through her presentation:

"Under the Influence: Artists I Admire and Lessons I've Learned"

Supplies Needed:

  • Enlarged color photo:

    • 16 x 20 inches (rectangular) or 16 x 16 or 20 x 20 inches (square)

    • Crop the image to remove excess or distracting background.

    • 5 x 7 or 8 x 10 copy of the same image, but in black and white.

  • Light Box

  • Portable iron & ironing pad with extension cord.

  • Scissors:

    • Small sharp embroidery scissors for cutting small pattern pieces.

    • Scissors to use with paper.

  • Fabric:

    • You’ll need a variety of fabrics in a range of values (from light to dark) that coordinate with your photo. Small scraps work great for this type of project. Nothing larger than â…› yard or a fat quarter is needed.

  • Sewing Machine with the ability to drop the feed dogs for free motion quilting.

  • A variety of thread: I typically use 40-50 wt cotton thread.

  • Quilters Gloves

Students will purchase a $45 kit for specialty supplies, payable to instructor in class. (Specific details provided upon registration).

Stacey has had an emotional attachment to fabric for as long as she can remember, but never fell in love with traditional quilting. She adsolutely adores fabric, but once enough blocks are completed to see what the finished project will look like... she loses all interest.

Her journey as a textile collage artist is a continuous adventure until the
very last stitch, and one she loves to share with others.  She'll introduce you to a variety of techniques that will enable you to create your very own unique textile art. This will be her third year teaching, and helping Carmen behind the scenes QAS.

She lives in Canton, Ohio. Her dog Kevin is  a whole lot of min-pin, 3% rat dog, and 1% wolf... who now thinks he's famous.
